Aktual Indonesia - AN invesigation is under way following an incident at a school which was filmed on a mobile phone and shared on social media where a teacher calls a student a "scumbag".
The incident, which happened last week, involved a teacher getting in the face of a pupil at Blessed Trinity College in Burnley, before calling him a "scumbag" and shouting at him to leave the classroom.
He then tells the boy: "Never done a day's work since you've been in this school".
The video, which was filmed by a pupil, was shared widely on social media platforms including TikTok, where versions with edited sound have been viewed more than 100,000 times.
However, the footage taken in the classroom does not show the full incident and what triggered this reaction from the teacher; but it is believed the pupil threw a pen at the teacher's head which prompted the stern dressing down.
Following the incident, it was rumoured the teacher had been suspended from his role, and pupils were said to have brought banners into the school demanding justice for him.
However, a spokesperson for the school has confirmed the teacher involved had not been suspended, but an investigation is currently being carried out into the incident.
A spokesperson for the Diocese of Salford, the school's governing body, said: “We can confirm there was an incident last week in school involving a member of staff and a pupil and footage relating to this incident has appeared on social media.
"Parents and guardians can be assured all incidents relating to the safety of our staff and pupils are taken seriously.
"This incident is still being investigated and it would therefore be inappropriate for us to comment further at this time.”
